Our purpose

The OneStarfish Foundation aims to provide funds, material and/or personnel assistance in the form of ‘Scholarships’ to identified students. The assistance provided is to support participation in education potentially throughout the applicant’s educational journey - for as long as the applicant continues to meet the Foundation’s Criteria. In future it is envisaged that this will grow to include providing mentors and the ability to access people, events and experiences that will nourish a young person’s passion and interests.

OUr Background

For the past 20 years our founders have worked with young people, children and their families, primarily in the Ashwood/Chadstone area in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs. Our team have also worked in the community sector in regional Victoria. We have heard many people’s stories of struggle and hardship but also witnessed their courage and resilience. Over this time we have been part of community groups delivering emergency relief, Christmas hampers, and have been involved with local schools. Working with schools has given us a practical understanding of the needs faced by students and their families and the difficulties faced by wellbeing staff in meeting those needs. For a long time we have wanted to be able to help out in a more targeted way and are now, in the position to do so, in 2018 we launched OneStarfish to help disadvantaged, persistent, resilient students strive for excellence and achieve their potential.
